Job Details
Our client, a leading organisation in its sector, seeks an Operational Risk Manager to help strengthen its growing UK corporate risk & assurance function during a period of organisational change. Reporting to the Risk Director, the Operational Risk Manager will plan, manage and provide assurance support to all business areas, departments and functions in the UK business, ensuring that UK operational risks and business continuity risks are being appropriately managed and that the internal governance control framework is operating effectively.
Taking guidance from the Corporate Risk Director for the Group, you will devise and implement strategies to ensure that the UK business' risk management framework provides consistent standards and toolsets for identifying, measuring, monitoring and managing the company's exposure to potential operational failures and ensuring that the function is the driving force behind risk awareness and facilitating the day-to-day ORM activities reporting.
This is a high-profile position that will involve participation in risk committees and project committees as well as providing reports to the Board.
Due to the consultative nature of the position, applicants should possess excellent interpersonal skills together with strong operational risk management and ideally business continuity management experience gained within a large commercial organisation.
Whilst the role is mainly site-based, some very occasional trips to other UK sites (day trips) may be required.
Skills / Experience / Attributes:
- Knowledge and experience of Operational Risk Management - ideally ISO31000 Risk Management certified or
- Knowledge and experience of the principles and application of good corporate governance, business and operational risk and control processes and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to effectively present information to senior management
- Experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships at various organisational levels and with regulatory authorities.
- Experience in working to tight deadlines and delivering high quality output whilst able to work on multiple concurrent project
- IT/Systems Audit experience
- Advanced knowledge of core Microsoft Applications (Word and Excel)
- ISO9001 Quality Management experience would be beneficial
