Job Details

You’ll influence risk management, and shape our future.

The challenge

A fast-evolving public corporation, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is committed to shaping the future of regulation in the UK nuclear industry. As a Planning and Risk Co-ordinator, you’ll be essential to our effectiveness and join us at a time of real, considerable change. It’s not only a great chance to develop a high profile area, but it’s also an opportunity to shape the future of the nuclear industry.

The role
In this role, you’ll maintain and enhance the corporate risk management and planning functions across the whole of ONR. Importantly, you’ll maximise our achievements and maintain our reputation. This’ll see you writing progress reports for senior leadership meetings and co-ordinating the annual planning cycle this requires the use of Excel spread sheets requiring an individual to have a sound and highly proficient knowledge of Excel uses.  This will support the imminent development of our risk management framework as we automate our systems during 2019. Plus, you’ll identify and deploy best risk practices – championing these processes across ONR as part of our cyclic reporting processes.  You will engage with the business and have a close working relationship with senior management providing support and advice in planning and risk management. It’s about looking at the way we approach planning and risks, and developing and advancing our methods so that we’re equipped for the future.

The person
You’ll have an impressive background in this area. With a Risk Management qualification (IRM Certificate or Diploma), or as a Management of Risk Practitioner, your knowledge of practice standards will be sound. This’ll be backed up with your experience of working in a risk management or corporate planning environment. And as a collaborative individual with excellent communication skills, you’ll have the natural ability to persuade and inspire others. Ideally, you’ll have membership of an appropriate professional body. But, more importantly, you’ll be motivated, resilient and determined – keen to challenge and improve our ways of working.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with these roles attracting a salary of £37,670 - £45,106. In addition, up to £8,000 relocation may be available. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for an incredibly substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you’ll receive a very generous holiday entitlement.
