Location: Victoria House, London WC1B 4AD

This is an opportunity to use your Risk Management expertise to play a key role leading on the delivery of the Risk Management framework for the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

The CMA is the UK’s world-leading body established to make sure competition works in people’s favour and businesses treat their customers fairly.  In recent years, the CMA has been working with the Institute of Risk Management to ensure businesses comply with competition law, by advising on the steps businesses can take to identify and reduce competition law risks.

As Head of Risk, you will work with colleagues across the CMA to identify and agree mitigations for risk, monitor the effectiveness of agreed controls and provide assurance reports to the Executive Team, Audit and Risk Assurance Committee and the Board.

You will be responsible for building a positive and effective risk management culture, advocating the benefits of improved risk systems and supporting the development of a “grounds up” risk assurance programme.  You will also work with risk leads and contacts throughout the business to build capacity on risk management processes, fostering and embedding an environment of shared learning and accountability on risk issues.

With a recognised risk management qualification, you will have relevant experience of leading/working across a Risk Management function with a large programme/project or organisation. You will also need the ability to think strategically about risk interventions and develop a cohesive and efficient risk framework.

The CMA is a hugely rewarding and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee wellbeing programme and favourable consideration of flexible working.

Closing date:  15 April 2019.

The CMA are an equal opportunities employer and we recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in the Civil Service Commission's recruitment principles.

The CMA are an accredited Disability Confident Employer.
