Job Details

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities within the Police and Crime Plan.

We are a dedicated, professional, highly skilled workforce and are committed to equality and diversity. You’ll be joining the well-respected MOPAC Directorate of Audit, Risk and Assurance, recently externally assessed as one of the leading internal audit services within the public sector. The Directorate has the interesting and high-profile job of providing the internal audit service for a number of significant clients including; MOPAC, the Metropolitan Police Service, the London Fire Brigade and the Greater London Authority.

For you this scale and scope means opportunities to deliver assurance to a wide client base that will ultimately ensure continuing, effective and efficient services are delivered to Londoners. Your aim will be to identify key business risks, evaluate and test controls and identify areas of improvement, something you’ll do by planning and carrying out programmed audit assignments.

A good level of practical internal auditing experience is essential and will be supported by a recognised qualification (minimum of CIA/PIIA or equivalent) together with membership of the appropriate professional body. You’ll be someone who has a thorough understanding of systems and risk-based auditing, and the personal qualities and credibility to operate effectively as a representative of MOPAC and the Directorate.

The role provides career opportunities that could take the salary from a Grade 6 at £40,961 per annum, to a Grade 5 at 48,355 per annum depending on qualification, business needs and experience. You’ll also benefit from an excellent pension scheme, generous annual leave entitlement and other personal benefits.

Political Restriction; under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011) all members of staff of the MOPAC will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.

You will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting for the role . Applicants will need to have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. If that sounds like you, please click Apply now.

Application closing date: 7 July 2019 at 23:59.

MOPAC welcomes applications from all sections of the community and a wide range of diverse backgrounds. Reasonable adjustment will be made to working arrangements to accommodate a person with a disability who otherwise would be prevented from undertaking the work.

Company

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) came into being on 16 January 2012, replacing the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) entirely.

MOPAC’s Mission & Priorities have been recommended by the DMPC and approved by the Mayor. The three key success factors within the Mission are:

  • Hold the Metropolitan Police to account and deliver the Mayor’s manifesto commitments and expectations.
  • Challenge the Metropolitan Police and other criminal justice agencies to deliver value for money for the taxpayer and meet the challenges of service delivery with fewer resources in the years ahead.
  • Ensure that all of London’s public service agencies work together and with communities to prevent crime, seek swift and sure justice for victims, and reduce re-offending.
