Job Details

Responsibilities

The role encompasses critical business responsibilities such as leading credit assessments, execution of new loans, and supporting the portfolio management team with monitoring outstanding loans.

  • You will manage a team of analysts with our other VPs to carry out quantitative and qualitative credit analysis using our tailored and standardised in-house built tools as well as lead due diligence of our borrowers
  • You will be ultimately responsible for the financial modelling on transactions, working with our analysts to create sensitivity scenarios and analysing credit ratios under a variety of different capital structures
  • You will need to interact with the origination team to understand pipeline and structure transactions in accordance with a borrower’s individual requests
  • You will lead meetings with borrower’s management teams
  • You will negotiate terms with the borrower towards the production of a term sheet
  • You will present to the credit committee
  • You will help manage the subsequent execution process and timeline until transaction close
  • You will contribute to building our in-house analytical tools and devise ways to continuously improve the underwriting process
  • You will lead analyst training sessions and act as a mentor to our pool of analysts

Skills, Experience and Requirements

You must be able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years SME-focused cash flow lending experience in a leading commercial bank or credit fund, providing credit analysis and financing solutions in the UK market
  • Prior experience of commercial loan underwriting across a wide variety of borrower sectors
  • Involved in term sheet and legal negotiations including key terms and structuring, covenants and security

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to interpret financial statements and an understanding of key risk drivers specific to SMEs
  • High-level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling
  • Ability to interact confidently with others, both externally with clients and in a collaborative team
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, communication and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to come up with innovative and scalable solutions to day-to-day problems and suggest changes to processes to improve our efficiency
