IT Security Architect

£51,500 - £60,000 plus £1,750 location allowance and excellent benefits
Based Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes

At FCO Services, we keep information, assets and people safe all around the world. Governments look to us to keep their information and assets secure in a constantly changing world. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office is our main customer but we also work with other UK government departments and friendly foreign governments.

Join our Engineering and Technology Division, which is responsible for IT standards and governance across FCO Services, and your technical knowledge and expertise will keep vital information safe.

Protect information for government customers around the world

Your job will be to manage our IT Security technical function. This will involve working closely with technical architects and project managers, to provide them with expert advice on IT security architecture and ensure information security is built into projects from the start. Other key elements of the role include evaluating systems for vulnerabilities and making sure recommendations from our regular systems tests are always followed up and detecting and responding to IT security incidents, working out why they happened, and suggesting action to avoid them happening again.

Apply your technical knowledge where it really counts

With significant previous experience in IT security, you’ll have a strong technical understanding of IT systems, cloud and mobile technologies, and will know all about the theory and practice of risk management. You will be responsible for line managing a Systems Assurance Advisor, so it’s important that you have good leadership and motivational skills. A relevant technical professional qualification is also essential (for example CISSP). Other key qualities we look for include integrity, drive, a cool head under pressure, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders at all levels.

Take your IT security career to the next level

At FCO Services, your work will mean more. As IT Security Architect, you can play a key part in that work, driving technical improvements that will have a positive impact on our customers, our employees, and our business as a whole. Employee benefits include an excellent work-life balance, flexible working, on-site OFSTED-registered nursery and Civil Service pension and more.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining.
