About The Role

The Legal Analyst is responsible for supporting the Legal Function to deliver its objectives of managing risk (whether legal, reputational or compliance) and ensuring the Society’s missions and values are demonstrated in everything it does.

This Legal Analyst role includes supporting the Legal team on a broad spectrum of legal issues but will have a focus on Products, namely our savings & mortgages which will also include the activities set out in the Key Responsibilities section below.

You will work as part of the team, reporting to the Lead Counsel (Products) which has overall responsibility for Mortgages & Savings. You will have responsibility for overseeing the Legal Function’s overall deliverable's for the area you work in, ensuring these are delivered on time and any dependencies are communicated effectively.

About You

You are a highly organised person with the ability to work cohesively as part of a team in a busy environment, and manage stakeholder expectations. You will have a strong interest in property and conveyancing matters and have the ability to build successful working relationships with, and communicate effectively with, colleagues, both inside and outside the Function. You will have the skills to advise colleagues in a commercially practical, hands on and common sense manner. You will demonstrate significant alignment to the Society’s values.

You will be developing professional skills, knowledge and experience in your specialist area. You have a strong interest in property and conveyancing law in particular and will have relevant legal experience and/or qualifications. You will have a desire to learn and to assist on a range of matters across the Legal Function, with excellent communication, research and administrative skills and a particular attention to detail.

In addition to the key responsibilities outlined above, this Legal Analyst role includes supporting the Legal team on a broad spectrum of legal issues but will have a focus on Products, namely our savings & mortgages. The role requires working with a range of stakeholders across the Society, including the New and Existing Lending Functions and the Solicitor Panel Management Team in relation to their requirements for legal support, which includes responding to queries in relation to mortgage/conveyancing transactions and supporting with the escalation of charge registrations. In addition, the role requires providing general property and mortgage law support to other business areas when required.

Contract: Permanent - 35 hours a week ( Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm)
