Develop Corporate Security at ONR.
Make sure our information is protected.

The challenge

Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an evolving public corporation. Essentially, we’re responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. In this newly created role, you’ll lead the development of Corporate Security at ONR, enhancing Risk Management and taking a crucial function forward.

The role

Corporate Security is expanding at ONR – and you’ll be in the driving seat. As our Governance, Risk & Assurance Manager, you’ll ensure we comply with security procedures to keep critical data safe. It’s a wide-ranging role where you’ll establish a Risk Management function, review and refine governance arrangements for corporate security and co-ordinate ONR’s accreditation to ISO27001. However, this isn’t just about implementing key controls; it’s about bringing our team with you.

It’s critical that you can raise the profile of Corporate Security and ensure our people understand their responsibilities. Essential to this task are credibility, influence and clear communication. Through collaboration and encouragement, you’ll achieve full assurance and compliance with security measures (cyber and non-cyber). As you work, you’ll build exceptional expertise and make the most of your knowledge.

The person

At this level, you’ll need proven technical skills, grounded in experience: you’ll have planned assurance activities before and performed risk assessments. Ideally, you’ll also have a recognised risk management or internal audit qualification (for example, ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)). Equivalent qualifications or experience are also welcome. However, what will really set you apart are your interpersonal skills. If you can connect with people across our team and put complex matters simply, we can offer a fascinating role, protecting a national regulator.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £39,392 - £47,632 plus a London Weighting allowance of £4,052 (if applicable). Furthermore, you’ll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you’ll receive a generous holiday entitlement.
