About us

We’re proud to be an island of constant change and continuing modernisation. Our ambition as a government is for all islanders to enjoy a good quality of life, in a fair and balanced society, sustained by a prosperous economy and outstanding, high-quality public services. That’s where you come in.

About the role

This is a crucial role where it’ll be up to you to develop a biosecurity strategy for Jersey with an innovative, joined-up approach.

Managing biosecurity through risk management and scientific-based evidence, you’ll identify trends and inspire continuous improvement in work practices and operating procedures. Working closely with statutory, voluntary and community sector partners, you’ll apply your skills and experience to provide strengthened resilience and effective collaboration across the full range of IHE Regulation enforcement and licensing activities.

About you

With a Bioscience degree and some industrial experience, you’ll be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of strategy and policy writing. You’ll be liaising with people at all levels - from customs to farming - so you’ll be adept at winning hearts and minds. Bring us good awareness of port operations and the desire to drive and develop positive change, and you’ll thrive here.

Join us and you’ll help to make Jersey an amazing place to live, work and visit for everyone.

Company

Jersey is a parliamentary democracy and is a dependency of the British Crown. The Government of Jersey refers to the island's Ministers and public administration.

We look after the island of Jersey’s infrastructure – from housing and roads, to water and sewage, public spaces to cultural venues.

We support the island’s local and international economy, through effective regulation and fiscal policy, overseas promotion and inward investment, business support and innovation.

We collect the taxes that pay for public services, and pay the income support and pensions that help families and the elderly.

We keep islanders safe from harm – policing the streets, and running the prison, fire and ambulance services. And we protect Jersey’s natural environment and biodiversity, and support agriculture, fishing and tourism.
