Job Details

The Audit Risk Recruitment Company (ARRC)* has been mandated by our client, a UK Commercial Bank, to assist in their search for a Senior Data Governance Manager.

Reporting into the Senior Data Governance Manager, you will be working across the business on a variety of different projects, to assess risk and governance around data, managing data processes around GDPR and other key data areas. 

This will encompass a wide range of project and BAU activities, including IRB, CCR, Climate Risk, and IFRS9 among others, whilst providing support to the Senior Data Governance Manager.

You will face off to key senior members of the business reporting on data risk from a TCF, GDPR and regulatory perspective. 

This is a great opportunity for a risk, controls or finance professional with a governance background to move into a wider governance related position.

Key responsibilities include

  • Assisting with Project Management of all Data Governance activities across the Bank.
  • Assisting with development and ownership of IRB Data Governance Framework and Standards and embedding related best practices within business units.
  • Assisting in design and rollout of Data Quality Scorecards; liaison with multiple Technology areas (Data Warehouse, Snowflake, Service Delivery, etc.).
  • Creating Data Quality Scorecards with business units; e.g. investigation of issues through assorted technologies (Oracle SQL Developer, Informatica, Axiom), data cleanses, rule changes, etc.

Essential Requirements

  • Practical experience of working in a Data Governance/Data Management role at a significant organization.
  • Working within Financial Services / UK Regulatory environment 
  • An understanding of core capabilities and principles within Data Management with experience spanning more than one of the following: data strategy, Data Quality, Data Governance, Data Ownership, Data Lineage, and Metadata Management
  • Experience in database systems, SQL skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex data and concepts to audiences of differing levels and backgrounds
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across business units, facilitating, challenging, and bringing ideas together to problem solve
  • Comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, managing relationships, and flexing to support different levels of data maturity and priorities Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Possess an understanding of Credit Risk Management techniques, preferably including Credit Risk Weighted Assets, IRB regulations and metrics, IFRS9 and other Regulatory Reporting.
  • Experience with BI/data-visualization tools – e.g. Business Objects, Tableau.
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing principles and techniques.
