We are recruiting for a Regulatory Advice Business Partner at StepChange Debt Charity in Leeds. This is a great opportunity to join the charity’s busy Risk & Compliance team and play a key role in keeping StepChange on track in our delivery of good client outcomes. Using your expertise, you will advise and guide the charity in relation to legal, regulatory and mandatory expectations and adherence with internal policies and procedures.

Where you’ll work:

We operate a hybrid working model combining remote working with some days in our new Leeds city centre office. With this role, we are looking for some flexibility to occasionally travel to other charity sites across the UK, including infrequent overnight stays.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide proactive advice, guidance and challenge on compliance and conduct matters
  • Responding to requests for support and guidance in relation to technical queries from across the charity
  • Review and guidance on matters relating to first line activity including communications (inc financial promotions), training, quality assurance and complaints
  • Leading impact assessments and gap analysis on new regulatory updates and, if gaps or weaknesses are identified, collaborate with key stakeholders to address
  • Represent the risk and compliance function though key change initiatives, providing advice and guidance on expectations; highlight risks and providing guidance on key aspects of regulatory focus for consideration 
  • Providing support and guidance to colleagues across the charity in relation to systems and control issues around regulatory rules and regulation

What you’ll bring:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a role working in a Conduct focused FCA regulated environment
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and legal frameworks relevant to the charity
  • A good awareness of the current Financial Services regulatory landscape

It would also be desirable and advantageous, but not essential, to:

  • Have knowledge and experience related to the application of:
  • CONC
  • MCOB
  • CASS
  • Insolvency
  • Financial Crime and AML
  • Hold a relevant compliance qualification and/or have a proven track record of continuous professional development
  • Have experience of working within a change led organisation

Salary: £48,100 + benefits package
