Are you a great people manager with strong administrative skills? Someone who’s always on the look-out for ways to improve things? Are you excited by the prospect of working with a uniquely complex organisation, whose work has global reach? If so, this could be your job, bigger.

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. We store visa applications safely in the Cloud. And a whole lot more besides. We’ve been a trusted government partner for over 75 years, and a big part of our success is down to our commitment to excellence. We’re always looking for new ways to make what we do even better, for our customers and colleagues. And to do it, we take pride in supporting all our business areas and teams to keep exceeding their potential. That’s where you come in.

Spot ideas with the potential for organisation-wide impact

Your day-to-day work will focus on wide range of activities that support our colleagues and drive business performance. Including monitoring our internal Continuous Improvement databases. You might read ideas for new projects. Or perhaps some ‘lessons learned’ when things haven’t quite gone to plan. Whatever it is, you’ll keep an eye out for trends – and pass on the suggestions to appropriate teams. You’ll be the bridge between colleagues and senior leaders, enabling everyone across FCDO Services to have a say in how things run, and how our organisation develops in the future.

You’ll also manage a team of Business Support Officers working on a broad range of support activities. Provide secretariat services to governance boards, like the Senior Leadership Team. Act as a Risk Administrator for key business areas. And build relationships with colleagues across the organisation as you give advice and guidance on complex matters. It’s fulfilling work, and because everything we do takes place on a global scale, you’ll have the chance to make an impact on all kinds of exciting projects.

Lead your team to provide an invaluable service

So, what about you? Well, you’re an experienced line manager, with a passion for developing people and systems to be the best they can be. With fantastic organisational skills and experience of busy, fast-paced environments, you’re resilient, able to re-prioritise and manage competing demands at the drop of a hat. And you’re a problem solver, someone who brings their opinions to the table, and is a big advocate for enacting positive change. Your reliability and responsiveness mean you’re a natural at building relationships too – someone who’s truly easy to work with. And finally, you’re keen to learn, and motivated by the prospect of contributing to FCDO Services’ unique and purposeful mission.

And as for what we do for you, we offer a competitive salary, 25-30 days’ annual leave per year (depending on length of service) and a Civil Service pension. We also invest in our people – so you’ll have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, canteen and restaurants, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Dependant on business need, you’ll also have the option to work from home in a hybrid way. Above all else, we can offer your job, bigger. In this role, your work will be the starting point for countless new projects, which not only preserve our ability to protect people, information and assets around the world, but make sure we continue to strive to be better.

Want to see your future team’s work in action? Step into our Virtual Embassy, to see how we deliver for government customers and how you could help. Explore the embassy now on our website.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you’ll need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our process to achieve Security Clearance (SC). You can find out more about vetting on our website.

The closing date for applications is 27th November 2022.

And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
