Job Details

The Environment Agency's vision is to “Create a better place”. We protect and improve the environment for people and wildlife. Making this happen is challenging and depends as much on sound risk management as scientific and technical expertise. In Internal Audit we are always challenging what we do and how we do it to ensure we make a real difference for the benefit of the environment.

The role of a Senior Internal Auditor is important in enhancing the team’s risk-based approach, with a strong focus on risk management, continuous improvement, value for money and legislative compliance. The post-holder is responsible for supporting the Audit Managers, specifically by delivering a suite of Internal Audits on topics that extend across the whole of the Environment Agency from flood defence to regulation. Engagement with senior management is a key aspect of the role and the successful applicant will play a major part in delivering the annual Internal Audit plan.

To be successful you will need to rapidly gain an understanding of our business, have excellent influencing skills to bring about change and have a solid background in managing clients. You will hold an Internal Audit or Accountancy professional qualification (i.e. CMIIA, ACA, ACCA or CiPFA) and have Internal Audit experience within a complex organisation.

The post will involve some travel between Environment Agency offices within England to visit clients. For further information or to apply, please click through to our recruitment site.

Closing date: 30 November 2022, 23:55 hours.
