OVERALL SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head of Existing Customer Management, the purpose of the role is to lead on the Capital and Impairment analysis and reporting for Retail (Premium and Motor portfolios).

The role focuses on the Capital and Impairment discipline for Retail including responsibility for model risk office, forecasting, stress testing and downturn planning

The Risk Manager will also be a key point of contact on credit within the Retail businesses and within the wider Bank Risk and will therefore be required to work well across the business and bank representing Credit at relevant business meetings, forums and committees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key contact on capital and impairment within the Retail business, delivering high quality commentary on drivers, risks and opportunities across the business and group. Deputising where necessary at appropriate forums/committees
  • Lead the business review of IFRS9 model outputs; ensuring it reflects the risk in the portfolio, remains adequate and compliant with relevant accounting standard; recommending adjustments / specific provision where appropriate
  • Monitor, analysis and embed A-IRB metrics in Motor Finance and support the implementation of A-IRB approach in Premium Finance.
  • Responsibility for credit risk aspects of annual reporting and disclosures
  • Monitor Retail Bad Debt against budget and forecasts, analysing trends and deviations. Work with wider business to agree the action required to address any performance issues and/or to capitalise on opportunities.
  • Developing Our People: as a line manager, you will be responsible for increasing productivity and developing performance through coaching, mentoring and developing your team members. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF:

  • In depth understanding of credit risk across the lifecycle, preferable in Retail Finance
  • Specific expertise in Retail Capital and Impairment (including IRB, IFRS9 & ICAAP) and knowledge of credit risk PD, EAD & LGD models.
  • Strong analytical mindset to be able to understand and investigate complex issues in a methodical manner
  • Strong coding skills, with experience using tools such as SAS or equivalent
  • Experience of working in FCA regulated environment with an understanding of UK regulatory requirements and developing and implementing credit policies and appropriate risk control frameworks and governance to satisfy legal and regulatory requirements within the UK.

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU:

  • SQL coding experience
  • Understanding and / or experience of credit scorecards in a retail or commercial environment
  • Strong model governance experience
